”Watership down”
Monsoon season had hit all of the country and was going to make for some interesting track conditions at Honiton for PPMC championship round 3.This was not going to be for the faint hearted ,all riders were going to have to dig deep and prepare to do battle.
S/W and B/W lined up together as a combined group, each pushing for position and taking advantage of some fallers in the corners that sorted the pack, with the track conditions being wet and hard to grip these boys dug in hard.Sam Barfoot proved himself again as he took the track by storm and pulled of a superb race win ,holding off Sam Lycett who himself went on to secure the next two blocks and take the overall for the day with superb skills in the wet conditions, second was Barfoot who pushed hard the whole day ,back on form by taking third was Morgan Withers who is proving to be a specialist in the mud, Tyler Groves succeeded in earning good points with a fourth after a day of mixed results, fifth went to Piers[camera man]Stanley who really pushes himself to make sure he secures consistant good positions,Josh Coltart took a very well deserved sixth place .Mixing in was Jacob Austin, proving on a s/w a determination that can reap rewards, settling in between fourth and fifth in the group.
Juniors went out with Travis Reynolds again taking the lead from gate to flag in block one and two and secured top of the podium, but the ever determined Calum Forte found a renewed energy and grabbed the opportunities as they arose and the third block was his along with second podium position, this was brilliant riding by both boys in difficult conditions that even the older riders at the club wouldn’t entertain,Alfie Hawkins is gaining higher positions each week, with a determined and concentrated mind he took a great trio of rides and vital points to earn third ,fourth went to Cameron Hale who has made great strides as a newbie to the sport and will play a huge part in this group as the season goes on, sixth went to Bradley Hicks.
Cadets are proving to be more than able as they took to the gates and launched out onto the track, all in determined mind set they focused and battled hard with each other for position and points,Thomas Coltart finding his way to the front in each block came home with superb maximum points,Charlie Marshall fought a battle with the mud and won the war getting his reward of second place,Corey Miles gave everything and pulled off an impressive holeshot to produce a fantastic third place, fourth went to Callum Loader who is showing terrific confidence and ablity as the weeks go on.
Seniors ,seem to be faster every week and impress everyone with their competitive battles out on the tracks, with no holds barred it was racing at its best while the track remained dry and everyone using the whole track to find the best lines, when the rain came in things really changed and as numbers fell the race for the top spots were really on,Kellan McDermott took an overall win of the day ,with Max Hiscox pulling second out of the bag ,third picked up by Josh Norris, fourth place Kyle Everett, fifth and sixth was Andrew Hartwell and Will Turner.
AMX came out of the gates ignoring the rain and mud, with only winning on their minds, fast, furious and impressive riding produced hair raising races, with Richard Ward working hard and securing max points, second place Sam Woods made a heroic push to stay up the top, third Jack Whatley was always in the frame, fourth and fifth going to Luke Brine and Kevin Portt who were close and on the gas at every turn, sixth was Jamie Watts who was in terrific form and made short work of the muddy stuff.
VMX proved they can handle any terrain or weather condition they face, out of the gates onto slippery ground they all snaked their way to the first corner and made great coverage of the track by clocking up superb lap times.Danny Cavanah was man of the day with max points, a very hard fought for second going to Kev Burgess, third place awarded to Michael Scoulding and fourth place John Boy Ryall who was in great form, fifth and sixth Richard Kerly and Andy Burgess gave very impressive displays to earn their points.
SPECIAL MENTION OF THE WEEK……all the riders who stayed to the bitter end and never gave up believing in themselves…………….
And Finally…………………….remember ”ride hard or ride home”
